Getting old is like climbing a mountain

"Getting old is like climbing a mountain; you get a little out of breath, but the view is much better!"
- Ingrid Bergman

Birthday's are very important to Humans. To many birthday's are tape rules to measure achievements, progress and a myriad of other things. To little children, The gifts, cake, dress-up and food are things they cherish and look forward to.

As we get older, through good and bad times, through sickness and in good health, we begin to realize that more important than materialistic things are the things we celebrate with or without those who are most closest to us.

I am still in awe, about how my 30’s is silently leaving me😅. I think it’s about time I start acting more serious and more so, my age (one twat already said I should)

I'm at a point in my life where I want to hold on to the beautiful memories life has blessed me with and forget the bad and not too good times. as I got older and reflect, I'm always grateful for each and every obstacle that has shaped me to who I am today.

When I was much younger, what i wanted to do was to grow up as soon as possible so I can take decisions on my own, live freely, indulge in childish exuberance and frolick as much as I want but now I'm all grown up, I want the aging to slow down 🥲. So that I won't clock 50 in few years time and start asking my kids where the hell all the years went to ( I'm still very far from 50 though. My birth certificate can bear witness😋).

Can't wait to be 40 when I will be able to do a proper audit of my life, however the last one year is like 20 years rolled into one.

Last year, I was very lucky to have a fresh start, because the previous one was a super rough year for me. The past year, I experienced both the joys and miseries of life and through it all, I have been able to take a lot of lessons from it.  The past year has seen me win some major battles. Had a couple of financial wins, got COVID-19 and survived . Was so grateful to wake up every morning and be surrounded by family and friends.

It may not have been the best year of my life yet. I could have said I've had better years in my life. Nonetheless, the past year was filled with purpose. The purpose to continue to be happy and successful.

This year, I'm not thanking those who stood by me (I do that everyday). I want to revel in the mercies of ALLAH. This year all I want to do is to re-think my goals,  habits and choices. an honest inventory of strengths and shortcomings, so that when 40 comes knocking I'd give it a punch in the face and say bring it on!

The world is growing and ever evolving, I want to evolve with it. I want to develop new skills and sharpen the presemt ones.
Growing up I had so much talent (where did they all go to🤔). Writing was my most favorite, along the line I let the murky waters of life and it's pressures steal all these talents away from me. Lately now I have started retrieving all the lost talents and hope I become better at it and don't lose it again.

A man is not what he thinks but what he does. I want to do me and nobody else this year. I want to give and share more,I want to be more compassionate and more kinder, I want to smile more, radiate happiness and positivity. I want to be spiritually, physically, mentally and intellectually mature.

I was born to be victorious and the only revenge would be success. I want this year to be the year that I remind everyone that I'm a miracle soon to be unraveled. I want to be the Hero of my own story.

Cheers to a new year!🍾
Meanwhile congratulations to Judge Kentaji Brown Jackson for being the first ever black woman to be confirmed as a Supreme Court Judge in the US
